For instance, families with more than 3 or 4 kids may not be able to purchase any vehicle large enough to carry them all at once.

Safety is a real concern. Safety features weigh a lot. Government artificially subsidizing electric cars while ignoring huge American petroleum reserves is a concern.

Reduced performance (acceleration) is a definite concern. It's just wrong from so many perspectives.Anglican Beach Partyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04775953413487218314noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5618000693321801605.post-40385264978360993022011-10-31T00:32:40.419-07:002011-10-31T00:32:40.419-07:00The only concern is that car prices may increase a...The only concern is that car prices may increase as a result of CAFE. The cost of the development of these efficient cars will most likely passed on to consumers.

Ford St Louis Dealersjackie100https://www.blogger.com/profile/09894650515362363536noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5618000693321801605.post-85313637135581874132011-10-21T07:05:02.174-07:002011-10-21T07:05:02.174-07:00Thanks, Castanea_d!
You bring forward some great ...Thanks, Castanea_d!

You bring forward some great points. It is a pet peeve of mine that many "greens" think and act as if electricity were a FUEL! It is not. It is merely a way of storing energy. The majority fuel behind all those "eco-friendly" electric cars is ... COAL.

The 50 to 60 mpg cars will not only be small and expensive. They will also be relatively unsafe. Safety devices add a lot of weight to vehicles.Anglican Beach Partyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04775953413487218314noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5618000693321801605.post-65478017002094763972011-10-21T06:33:57.754-07:002011-10-21T06:33:57.754-07:00Yeah. They will be small, lightweight, expensive. Emphasis on small -- a pickup truck or minivan or SUV would be pretty much impossible. But there are some people who need precisely such a vehicle.

And if you are selling such as part of your fleet, they will have to be counterbalanced by a lot of vehicles getting even better milage, something like 70 mpg.

I agree about the limitations on electrics, mostly the limited range. But they are also in a sense just passing the buck; the energy still has to come from somewhere.Castanea_dhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13041129689248653381noreply@blogger.com
